I graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1995 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. When I began my college education, my intention was to become a graphic designer but I soon realized that I was more at ease in my drawing and painting classes. While majoring in painting, I discovered a real passion for fiber arts after one semester with an incredible teacher/mentor, Arturo Sandoval. After graduation, my husband and I moved to Boulder, Colorado where we could be surrounded by the beautiful landscape, climate and quality of life that the Rocky Mountains offer. In 1999 I decided to try my hand at faux finishing and quickly built a successful business that I ran for 5 years, until the birth of our first son in 2003. I started creating these unique, handmade baby signs written in French and Italian as baby shower gifts for friends and family. Inspired by travel through Italy and the beauty of the Italian and French languages, my signs were always a hit at the showers and after a great deal of encouragement I decided to make them available on a larger scale. I have always been inspired by folk and tribal art, the beauty and simplicity of ordinary objects, text/language, European architecture, weathered objects, and decorating magazines. I love to look at something ordinary and envision that object not just for what it is, but also for what it could be. As an artist, it always gives me great pleasure to be able to share these passions and vision with others through my work.
